Club Philosophy

Players deserve a place to grow, an enjoyable environment to learn, and above all stability. As we witness the ongoing turmoil within club soccer, we are very encouraged by the loyalty of our players and coaches. The growth of our club is based on coaching and desire to play for SC United. Growth is a sign of acceptance, but will be managed conservatively.

Our goals and expectations within our coaching staff have been set, and the bar is high. The focus for all our players and parents from U9 to U14, is to improve soccer skills, master the basic techniques and learn the value of team unity. At U15 and above the priority shifts and every effort will be made to put our teams in a position to showcase their talent in high profile tournaments attended by College coaches and the National staff.

As a club we have a responsibility to help players improve, and as coaches a responsibility to deliver. Winning games is a byproduct of a strong program and although it becomes important at U15 and older level, we prefer to be judged on player progress. Trophies tarnish, good habits shine for life. Stability and loyalty are our words of choice for the upcoming season. Stability, showing in the way we take the losses with the wins, respect for each other, our opponents and officials, humble in victory.

Loyalty in the belief in ourselves, support of our coaches, our teammates and parents. Stay loyal to the belief that good comes from hard work, soccer is a very cruel game and sometimes we do not get what is deserved. Loyalty to the cause, "we gave it our very best".

Roger Castle

Club President

San Clemente United is a non-profit organization dedicated to provide a quality soccer program in a professional environment with designs to:

  • Develop each player to his or hers fullest potential.
  • Provide top quality soccer coaches who will inspire players to practice on their own, developing their skills and character.
  • Expose players within the club to collegiate and professional opportunities.

Coaching Philosophy

As technique and skill are paramount to the development of any youth player, our coaching sessions therefore revolve around the successful Weil Coerver approach to coaching.
