PLayer pathway

At Santa Cruz United, we believe player development is a journey. Our Player Pathway provides a clear, connected experience designed to help every player grow with confidence, develop a love for the game, and reach their potential.
From Community Soccer to our highest levels of competition, each stage of the pathway is designed to meet players where they are developmentally and provide the right balance of coaching, challenge, and opportunity.
Our pathway reflects the different ages, stages, and ambitions of players across the club. Some players begin in Community Soccer. Some enter through Pre-Academy. Others step into the competitive environment in the Foundation Phase and progress through Discovery, Development, and Performance as they grow.

UNDERSTANDING THE PATHWAY
Our pathway is designed to support players at every stage of their development. Each phase has a different purpose, environment and level of commitment, but all are connected by the same club values, coaching standards, and player-first approach.
COMMUNITY RECREATIONAL SOCCER & PRE-ACADEMY
Community Recreational Soccer and Pre-Academy provide important early entry points into the game for younger players and families.
Community Recreational Soccer offers a fun, local introduction to soccer where players can build confidence, enjoy the game, and begin developing basic skills in a positive environment.
Pre-Academy provides an additional club-based development opportunity for younger players who are ready for more structured technical training and coaching. It is designed to help players build strong early habits and prepare for the competitive pathway when the time is right.
These early experiences help players develop confidence, coordination, enthusiasm, and a connection to the game before entering the competitive club structure.
