Victory on the Sand: Santa Cruz United FC Dominates Pro AM Beach Soccer Tournament
This past weekend was nothing short of spectacular for our 2011G team at the Pro AM Beach Soccer Tournament in Santa Cruz. With the sun shining down and the ocean breeze in the air, our girls displayed exceptional skill and teamwork, going undefeated and clinching first place. They were a force to be reckoned with, scoring over 30 goals and conceding only 5 throughout the competition. Their relentless spirit and dedication were evident in every match, making us incredibly proud.
But the excitement didn't stop there. A mix of our high school players, bolstered by a few talented guests, also competed in the tournament and emerged victorious, securing first place as well. The highlight of the weekend was undoubtedly our veteran goalkeeper, Marilyn Talamantes. In the third game, she faced a nail-biting penalty shootout and saved every single penalty kick, ensuring our spot in the final. Her performance was nothing short of heroic.
Standouts of the tournament included U17 midfielder Isabella Schenone and U16 Leah Tuttman, both of whom put on fantastic performances. Ex-Breakers striker Julia Inkeles also made a significant impact, scoring two hat tricks during the tournament.
The final game was a thrilling encounter against Granite Bay Academy, who provided tough competition. However, our girls remained resolute, showing remarkable determination and skill to secure a 3-2 victory. This remarkable achievement underscores the hard work and commitment of our players and coaches.
A huge congratulations to all the players, coaches, and supporters for making this tournament a memorable success! Your passion and dedication are what make Santa Cruz United FC truly special. Here's to many more victories on and off the field!
